October 14
It is Columbus Day in the USA, but work continues here at Fort Krevit. And what a day it is, too: Color comes to the Fort!
Remember to click on the first image to open the BIG Gallery so you can see this amazing color!
technical
- Just in time! The color has begun!
- Only one coat of the elastomeric color, so it has to be perfect.
- Gooey and sticky!
- I do like it more than the gray.
- The elastomeric has real texture, in addition to the lovely color.
- After troweling it on, there are several different sponges and brushes that even it out and make it uniform.
- Inside, the kivas are getting prepared for their coats of stucco.
- The new bricks have been added to the West Den kiva!
- Stucco mesh is being applied in preparation for the stucco layers.
- Arnold continues to work his trim magic.
- Windows are tricky. That’s Steve at the window, making it perfect.
- West End Den chimney is ready for the color coat
- Living Room chimney needs another layer of gray before the color
- Making great progress!
- This is a real team effort!
- Sometimes Arnold gets bored and wants to set things on fire… 😉
- Elastomeric before the color: bubbly!
- Floating it out and making it smooth.
- This color is richer and darker than I thought. We shall see how it dries tomorrow.
- Elastomeric with Sierra Tan color added
- Almost done with the first wall in less than 1 hour.
- The elastomeric adds the last layer of thermal protection to the exterior of this house.
- Done! I think Steve likes it. I know I do!
personal
- Rain clouds over the brown
- I love this autumn landscape. The dead yucca is like a friendly ghost…
- And the cholla insist on injecting bright color into the fall landscape.
- This yellow is almost surreal.
- But the brown is taking over…
- Bella blends right in now…
- Spots of color still pop up.
- This cholla fruit is so eye-catching and dynamic amongst the brown.
- But inside it, it is fall, too.
- Such strange fruits–almost like candy corn!
- The rain clouds are finally moving in for real, now…
- Tim Burton would love this!
- Horse crippler cactus. The bloom is decaying…
- These yellow flowers are bright and happy…
- …while the sotol is at its end.
- Rain is on the way. Time to go home.
Really it’s going ahead fast. With 8 people working it’s understandable. The color of the walls is nice.
Your description of all things is amazing and even the little details is described 🙂
I like your house’s name. FORT KREVIT! Let’s see who dares anything against, haha.
