August 1
Work on the house is going to stop for a couple of weeks. The crew is needed on another job and juggling the two building sites is just too hard. Once the other job is finished, the entire crew will return to this site and START THE STUCCO PROJECT!!! Anxious? Who, me?
In addition to the stucco project, there is tile for the bathrooms and kitchen, bathroom and kitchen cabinets, plumbing fixtures, lighting, and those last pesky doors to finish. There is still a great deal of work to be done both inside and out. And yet so much has already been accomplished–it is amazing to me to realize how far this project has come. But for now, a break.
Don’t give up on this blog, though! You can expect a posting or two about the concept of “passive solar,” long-promised and finally coming your way sometime next week!
- I know this is important. I have already seen the ice and the water–and the snow!
- This goes on the roof over the main porch.
- This porch roof was saved for last. First it gets the shield, then the flashing, then the real roof material.
- Everything covered with mesh is going to get stucco.
- The view is so cool from up here!
- Look how much zigging and zagging they had to do.
- All done now.
- A different view of the new canale
- The plant below had better be big!
- Pardon me while I check out the clouds…
- A quick detour to Steve’s house to look at tiles–here are the flagstones!
- These are going to be great.
- And lots of them, too!
- Back again at the mountain, the garage door guys are here!
- This is going to be a very big door.
- Here’s the last of the roofing material that will go up on the porch.
- Steve had to build a barrier to keep the cows from walking in the stucco sand…
- Garage door equipment
- The door will be 18 feet wide. Wow.
- Progress!
- I’ll leave you with a hazy, wispy, shimmering August sky.
Great postings!
Thanks, Little Brother. 😉
